Story

The Action Of The Movie Begins Right After World War II, When Finnish Former Commando Aatami Korpi (Jorma Tommila) Goes Into Post-War Karelia To Retrieve And Destroy What Is Left Of His Former Home. His Silent Operation Transforms Into A Vicious Hunt After The Red Army, Under The Command Of The Cruel Igor Draganov (Stephen Lang), Makes Him Think That He Is A Danger And Should Be Removed. What Ensues Is A Merciless Chase That Is Full Of Bullets, Survivalism, And Frozen Landscapes.

What Works

It Is A Significant Advantage That The Sequel Is Not Joined Together With The Purpose Of Continuation. The Continuation Of The Story Is Natural, And Aatami Korpi, As Usual, Impresses With His Silent But Effective Appearance And Surgical Manner Of Acting.

Even The Clichéd Scenes Are Reinforced With Solid Screen Presence By Stephen Lang, Acting As The Villain.

The Emphasized One, Naturally, Is The Action Choreography. The New Fighting Ideas And The Physical Battles Contribute A Touch Of Excitement, Particularly When The Protagonists Come Into Conflict With Each Other On Screen.

What Doesn’t Work

The One Thing That Road To Revenge Fails To Do Is The Writing. The Story Is As Thin As A Wafer, And The Film Is Completely Dependent On Action To Have The Weight- This Is Sometimes Far-Fetched. Aatami Escaping Impossible Circumstances Over And Over Again Makes It Appear That There Is Nothing At Stake.

The Fighting Concepts Are Fresh, Though They Are Not As Heavy-Handed And Gritty As The First Movie. There Are Certain Sequences Which Accidentally Border On The Comic.

The Emotional Depth Of Aatami, Which Is Alluded To, Yet Never Followed Through With, Is Like A Lost Chance. Even A Brief Flashback Would Have Given It A 3-Dimensional Character.

The Denouement Is One-Dimensional, Foreseeable, And Unstressful. Rather Than An Abrupt Conclusion, The Movie Lacks A Bang And Goes Through With Some Stunts And A Lack Of Emotion.

Technical Side

The Film Comes In At Approximately 90 Minutes Long, And The Time Passes By Swiftly, Which Is A Blessing Considering The Underdeveloped Plot. Director-Writer Jalmari Helander Remains Focused On The Action, But She Puts Virtually No Weight Into The Development Of The Story, Which Makes It Seem Like A Sequel Created To Cash In On The Success Of The First One.

Cinematography, Music And Editing Are Not Much More Than Average. The Production Design Staff Should Be Credited With The Ability To Realistically Recreate The Post-War Setting. Nonetheless, The Telugu Dubbing Is Retro- Old School- Early 2000s Television Dubs.

Verdict

Sisu: Road To Revenge Is Offering Some New Action Tunes, But Nothing That Can Be Remembered. The Acting And The Production Design Make It Worth Watching, Yet The Movie Lovers Of The First Movie Will Probably Find This Sequel Unimpressive. It Has So Many Better Titles In The Theatres And OTT Platforms That It Ends Up Exactly In The Optional Watch Section.
