The Hassle Is Caused By A Petition To Prevent The Release Of The Film, Citing That One Of The Producers, Gnanvel Raja, Has Failed To Pay Significant Dues To His Financier, Arjunlal Sunderdas. According To Court Records, Studio Green Received 10.35 Crore In 2014, Which Is What The Financier Loaned The Company. The Interest Has Accumulated Over The Years, And The Outstanding Amount Has Grown To An Astonishing 21.78 Crore. The Madras High Court Stood Firm And Decided That Annagaru Will Not See The Theatres Or Any Other Platform Until The Producer Fulfills The Entire Figure.
This Legal Tussle Isn’t New. There Had Been Earlier Hearings That Had Already Granted An Interim Stay, And The Court Had Granted Gnanvel Raja Several Opportunities, Seven Chances In Total, To Either Pay The Dues Or Present A Definitive Repayment Plan. But There Was No Significant Repayment.
During The Last Hearing, The Petitioner Emphasised The Repeated Defaults. In The Meantime, The Counsel Of The Producer Said That 3.75 Crore Would Be Paid In 24 Hours And That Receipts To Movable Assets To The Balance Amount Would Be Provided. However, The Court Was Not Convinced, And It Said That Sufficient Time Had Already Been Provided Without Any Outcomes.
Having The High Court Remaining Adamant On Its Ruling, The Release Of Annagaru Has Now Been Officially Placed Into Limbo. The Movie Has Been Banned On All Platforms Until The Financial Issue Is Settled, And The Only Way To Go Forward Is To Delay The Movie. A Formal Statement By The Makers Should Be Provided Soon.
